Welcome to the Alvin Community College’s Counseling, Community Resources and Wellness Page! Our mission is to provide services within the college environment and community that contributes to the academic success, personal growth and positive social experience for students.   

For non-life threatening crisis assistance at ACC during business hours, go to the Admissions Office at Alvin Community College and ask for an Advisor or Counselor.

Assessment and Care Team (ACT) Referral

  • Are you concerned about a currently enrolled ACC student or community resident on campus? Consider making a referral to ACC’s Assessment and Care Team (ACT). The Assessment and Care Team consists of a multi-disciplinary group of ACC employees including counselors, faculty, police, and student services staff. The ACT is committed to providing ACC staff, employees and students with supportive resources through a practical, collaborative, and thoughtful approach to the prevention, identifica¬≠tion, assessment, intervention and holistic management of situations that may be disruptive in a student’s academic progress or to the well-being of campus employees.

  • Alvin Community College employs two licensed counseling professionals that follow a short-term, solution-focused theory of counseling and generally see students for one to six sessions. The focus of short-term counseling can include issues related to the transition to college, balancing classes, anxiety, relationship/family difficulties, mild depression, financial problems, and personal issues that may impact one’s academic success.
  • Students who need long-term counseling or referrals will be assisted with locating resources in the community. The services offered are intended to assist students in being more successful academically and personally.
  • Referral Form: Students can fill out a counseling request referral form 

Office Hours: Counselors are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Go to the Admissions Office in building A or contact a Counselor by calling 281-756-3531 during business hours.

Emergency: For non-life threatening crisis assistance at ACC during business hours, call 281-756-3531 and ask for a Counselor or stop by the Admissions Office. If the office is closed, and this is a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.
